2020 Delphos Chamber Awards Community Involvement Business of the Year Finalist

First Federal Bank 

First Federal Bank is a community bank offering traditional banking services, including residential, commercial and consumer loans, as well as a broad range of deposit account services for retail and commercial customers and trust and investment services. The branch in Delphos was founded in 1877 as The Commercial Bank.  In 2005, they were acquired by First Federal Bank of the Midwest.  Even though the name was changed, their commitment to the community has not.

First Federal Bank has 14 employees actively involved in numerous organizations, activities, committees, events and groups in the community.  In 2019, team members volunteered in some capacity in over 40 community driven events.   The bank employees serve on boards at the Delphos Public Library, Senior Citizens Center, Thrift Store, Ottoville Park Carnival, Delphos Chamber, Kiwanis Club and Samaritan House.  First Federal provides Financial Literacy to several groups along with homeownership counseling sessions.  Employees volunteer to operate “the bank” at the St. John’s Church Festival, 4^th of July Festival, Fort Fest and Relay for Life.   Employees also contribute to the Angel Tree, part of the Delphos Community Christmas Project.

One of the most impactful activities of First Federal Bank is Pay-It-Forward Day.  The tradition started in 2014 and each year, companywide, every employee is given $10 to perform a random act of kindness.  There are 14 employees that participate and this act provides a positive and uplifting reminder to our community and residents that we live in a great place!

Every year, each employee is given eight hours of paid time to volunteer and provide services in our communities.  In addition to the paid volunteer time and Pay-It-Forward Day, First Federal offers grants to people who want to make a difference in their local community. Campaigns such as “Building Better Communities”, encourage volunteerism in the community by assisting anyone needed help around their house/business, this in turn leads to further Pay-it-Forward acts that benefit our community.
