Superior Credit Union

In October 1954, 20 employees of the Superior Coach Corporation signed a charter creating Superior Coach Employees Federal Credit Union.   Upon the closing of Superior Coach Corporation in 1981, directors obtained a community charter and became Lima Superior Community Federal Credit Union.  Throughout the 1990s, Allen County townships were added to the field of membership.  IN 2004, further counties were added to the field of membership and the name of credit union changed to Superior Federal Credit union.  In 2005, Superior opened the Delphos office.   They are proud to serve over 95,000 members, more than 3,500 of which reside in Delphos.

Superior Credit Union employees are actively involved in their communities.  The Superior Running Series had its second race at the Delphos Organ Donor Dash in 2019, more than 15 employees ran this race.  Superior Credit Union participated in the Delphos Community Christmas Project, Toast to the Town and Delphos Chamber Annual Dinner, Night Golf and Bowling After Hours.  They have donated funds to Delphos Running Club, Delphian Social Club, Mike Gallmeier Foundation, Delphos Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Music in the Park, Jefferson Sports Programs, St. John’s Fall Festival, Optimist of Delphos, Relay for Life and Canal Days.

Each year, Superior matches employee contributions to give back to the United Way in the area.  Employees also donate time to the United Way Day of Caring and West Ohio Food Bank.

Superior is committed to helping build their members’ financial future. One way they accomplish that is through the annual Financial Education Day. In 2019, students from 10 area high schools participated in Real Money, Real World seminar and learned about credit and investments and picking a college. 75 students from Delphos Jefferson and St. John’s schools attended.

The Delphos Branch Manager helps members navigate the home buying process. Superior offers two down payment assistance grants: one through their Foundation, Superior First; and another through the Federal Home Loan Bank in Cincinnati, Welcome Home. Last year, more than 50 members received down payment assistance funding – six of whom worked with the Branch Manager in Delphos. They take pride in helping their members make wise investments for their future, and these grants allow them to save money while making a large purchase.

Superior will continue to impact our community through service, community donations, volunteering and financial education; and are constantly searching for new opportunities. Thank you for your continued commitment and involvement to Delphos and surrounding areas.

Congratulations to Superior Credit Union as being a top finalist for the Delphos Chamber Community Involvement Business of the year award.  Thank you for your continued commitment and involvement to Delphos and surrounding areas.
